New CEO of UK & Ireland life insurance appointed by Aviva
Doug Brown will join Aviva in the role of chief executive officer (CEO) of UK and Ireland life insurance from April 2021.
The appointment, still subject to regulatory approval, will see Brown depart Canada Life, where he has led the UK business for the last six years. Prior to that, he held the role of chief operating officer with Canada Life after joining the businesses from Aviva in 2012.
He brings extensive senior management experience from the life insurance sector to his newest role with Aviva, and more than 30 years in the industry.
Brown will succeed current CEO Angela Darlington who Aviva said has decided “to move away from corporate life”.

Mypensionid Appoints Head Of Digital ID Solutions
Biometric verification provider, mypensionID, has hired Anthony Briskey as head of digital ID solutions
Briskey brings over 16 years of industry experience to the team, having worked for firms including Global Fund Search, Newton Investment Management, HSBC Global Asset Management and Lazard Asset Management during his career.
He has a track record of building solutions for corporate and local authority pension scheme clients and he also has experience of the Australian superannuation market.
His role at mypensionID will primarily focus on helping clients to implement digital ID solutions into their member offering ahead of the launch of a consumer-focused app to help members find and connect with their pensions.

Capital Cranfield Appoints Richard Weisz As Professional Trustee
Former Deloitte consultant Richard Weisz will join Capital Cranfield as a professional trustee.
Weisz spent 19 years at Deloitte, working in the firm’s corporate consulting department and brings to Capital Cranfield experience of working with both sponsors and trustees on pensions strategy and solving pension problems, including situations of corporate activity and business challenges.
“I am truly excited at becoming part of Capital Cranfield’s prestigious team of professional trustees,” he said. “The strict challenges that face pension schemes today are quite often complex and significant, and I look forward to using my experience to assist trustee boards find pragmatic and innovative solutions for achieving the objectives of all stakeholders.”
The appointment of Weisz is Capital Cranfield’s 7th of the year, taking its professional trustee roster to 47.
2020 Trustees Names Trustee Director
Stuart Travers was appointed as 2020 Trustees’ newest trustee director, based in Bristol.
He joins from Winterbourne Trustee Services, where he held the position of trustee for over 15 clients, the vast majority in the role of chairman.
In over 30 years of industry experience, Travers has worked in a range of senior consulting positions with firms including SBJ Benefit Consultants, and Alexander Forbes which subsequently became part of JLT.
“I’m very much looking forward to using my experience, knowledge and skills as a professional trustee – alongside my wider pension industry background – and working with my new colleagues to assist UK pension schemes and their sponsors and financial advisors in providing clear and transparent solutions to the ever-changing pensions landscape and delivering on member expectations,” he said.

Cardano has promoted group HR director Dawn Thirley to firm partner.
Thirley has over 20 years’ experience in global HR and before joining Cardano in 2019, she held a number of senior HR roles at firms including Old Mutual, Bank of America and Merrill Lynch.
She has a keen interest in organisation transformation, employee development, culture, engagement and diversity, and will continue to lead the firm’s HR function.
